So Sarah sent me this book a while back called Writing Begins with the Breath. She said she thought of me when she read it, and sure enough, it's just my style. Contemplative, touchy-feely, zen stuff. I recommend it for anyone who's having trouble finding his center as a writer. I've thought about passing it along, but I'm not ready to give it up yet.
I'm reading it again, thinking how much I admire Laraine Herring's wisdom, and it occurs to me she might have a blog. I look it up and sure enough, she has one. Don't know why I didn't think of it before. I've added her link over there on my sidebar, and I hope you'll go look around. She's a creative writing teacher as well as a writer and has lots of good things to say.
I'm looking forward to reading the book you publish on creative writing someday :)
ReplyDeleteOh, funny. You're looking WAY forward, because that's not even on the radar.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks again for the book. It's one of my favorite writing books ever, right next to Stephen King's On Writing and How to Write Science Fiction and Fantasy by Orson Scott Card.
Well cool! How nice that you found something that really speaks to you! And neat that she has a blog you can follow too. I love that kind of thing. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for spreading the word about this blog!
ReplyDeleteI read two posts and neither caused me to cry. (But can I say that it may have been a close call? Shh, don't tell anyone!) Sounds like every word comes so naturally, doesn't it?
I also like that she and her husband got married by a monkey, and they feel that their union is as justified as any other. Good stuff!
Wish I would have gotten married by a gall-dang monkey. The way the marriage went, seems it would've been the appropriate choice. :O)
Well, good for you! I love it when we find something that connects, makes sense, for us as individual writers. Nice to know someone's on a similar journey, ain't it? :D
ReplyDeleteYep, this lady speaks to me.
ReplyDeleteI always forget you were married. I'd probably remember better if you had been married by a monkey.
ReplyDeleteMe too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your thoughts & for adding me to your blog roll. :-) I'm glad that you're enjoying Breath & that it's speaking to you in some way. (And oh yeah, the monkey-wedding rocked the house!)
ReplyDeleteKeep writing!
Laraine
Well hi, Laraine! I do love the book. Thank you for writing it, and for your comment. Can't wait for your next blog post. :)
