My Christmas tree

Update: This snowstorm we were expecting to be over by noon hasn't even really started yet, at 11:13. We're getting a little sleet, but the heavy stuff is taking it's sweet time. That means that the roads may still not be passable by tomorrow evening, when I'm expecting my immediate family to come. So...most of the treats are on hold until I find out if anyone will be here to eat them! Also, my back went out yesterday, so I have to let my husband do the heavy lifting--vacuuming and such--when he gets home from work today.

Since I have the holidays as an excuse, I'm going to let the blog go dark for a week or two. I'd really like to finish up a bunch of things I've started in the past couple of months cough*years*cough cough. Here's a totally uninteresting to-do list. Maybe I'll check them off as I complete each item.

I have three books going, two of them fiction with angels, and one about the sort-of angel within:

I am making three kinds of bourbon-less balls:

  • milk chocolate *DONE*

  • white chocolate *DONE*

  • dark chocolate *on hold until I find out if my family will be able to make it to my house*

In other preparation for my Christmas visitors,

  • Dusting

  • vacuuming *delegated to hubby*

  • clearing clutter *DONE*

  • 2 pumpkin pies

  • cherry cheesecake

  • bending home-bound children to my will *PENDING*

I'm still determined to

  • finish this work in progress soon, though I had to push back the due date a month. You folks who volunteered to be my first readers, should be ready for you sometime in January. So I guess I won't be marking this one done until I'm blogging again, but I will be working on it.

So I hope you have a wonderful holiday season, spent any way you like. I'm sure I'll see you on Facebook, and I'm only an email away.

  1. Have a wonderful holiday, my one of a kind friend. I think the world of you, Sher: of your writing, your honesty and humor, your intelligence and sensitivity, and your courage. We WILL hang out one day.

    love always,

  2. Oooh, is that your tree? It's so pretty! (Even if it's not you can still say it is and no one will ever know!)

You'll get all your stuff done. Know how I know? Because that's how you are. You're a goal accomplisher. :) Love you dolly. Have an awesome Christmas and New Years, and like you said, I'll see you on FB and/or email. *hugs*

  3. Lovely photo. And I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

  4. It's my tree, all right, 4 ft tall with a 6-footer's worth of ornaments. Oh, and if you click it you'll get a wider view which shows my bookshelf. That proves it. haha

Love to you, I'll send you something Christmasy on Farmville. ;)

  5. Thank you for the Christmas wishes, Claudia. I wish you and your family a wonderful holiday as well, stress-free if possible. love ya!

  6. Tree looks great! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year if I don't talk to you before.

  7. Thank you, Knyt, and the same to you. :)

  8. Hey! I have the exact same green mitten with spangles on it! I got it from my dad with scratch off lottery tickets stuffed inside it last year :)

I hope that you and your family have a wonderful holiday - even as I just read you threw your back out - oh no!

I'm so proud of the big steps you took in 2009 and can't wait to see what you make happen in 2010. I think you've truly let go of some baggage and are 'blossoming' into the person you want to be. I even like Angry Sherri :D

Merry Christmas to you and yours! ~Kristy/Ben/Squish

  9. That green mitten came home with one of the children, a gift from the teacher.

And you know what? I HAVE let go of some baggage, really and truly. It's been a crazy year, and I can't say I'm sorry to see it over, but I think I'll always remember it as an important year in my growth. Most times when I say I have a good feeling about the coming year it's mostly a vague, hope-for-the-future type feeling. But this year I really feel 2010 will be pretty good. At least I'll be able to handle crap better. lol

I hope you all have a wonderful Baby's First Christmas, and a happy New Year's Day. :)

  10. Merry Christmas to you and your family. I know what you mean about having so much to do. I have a novel to finish myself as soon as the holidays are over. Its probably already 3/4 done, but I still haven't completely planned out how it's going to end. I'm just mostly satisfied its gone as long as it has, seeing how I began writing it for NaNoWriMo, with no plan at all for it until two hours before I wrote the first word. Talk about making it up as it goes along.

  11. Thank you for the Christmas wishes, Aurora, and I wish the same for you. Nice to see you here again.

And wow, you must be a truly organic writer, flying by the seat of your pants like that. :) I've got to have at least an idea of where everything's going before I start. At least a scene worked out. Good luck with that, and let me know how it turns out.

  12. Nice to see the bunnies. And I love that books are behind your tree. You must be a writer!

Hope you had a great holiday.
